As Australian endorsee for Keilwerth, Buffet & Rico reeds, Andy has hosted over 50 master classes in jazz and woodwind performance at all levels in schools and universities both in Australia and overseas.
Andy’s “Play clarinet & saxophone with Andy Firth” book series for Boosey & Hawkes are sold worldwide and are testament to his ability to reach beginner, intermediate and advanced level students.
Andy has always believed that teaching music to others is one of the most important accomplishments of a great musician. His own teaching are based on this philosophy.
Andy focuses his skills and enthusiasm on enabling his students to not only master their instruments, but more importantly to develop their own appreciation and joy of music.
By talking with and showing your students and parents how I was able to start from my humble beginnings to become a respected performer and educator, they get excited about possibilities that they never dreamed were open to them. We all then benefit from their enthusiasm and hard work-it’s a “win-win” situation!”
Music is more than a job for me; it’s my passion and calling in life. I spend every minute of every day thinking about it…

“I’ve had the privilege of attending 6 of your Andy Firth master classes and workshops, and they have all been inspirational! The first one was through the McGregor school of music. I had just completed my first year of high school and couldn’t believe my luck when you started working with us!
You made a huge impression on me, and ever since (three and a half years later), I make sure I never miss a workshop or performance you give in SE Queensland! I have learned something new in each one of your workshops.
You explain things in ways that just make sense…and you’re always so encouraging and find kind and motivating words to say to each of the participants. Even the constructing criticisms are delivered with such a positive spin!
I was anxiously waiting for your books to come out, and they are a source of great music and provide great entertainment for the crowds and the player. For the past two years I have chosen your work as my solo items for the sunshine coast eisteddfod (1994) and the Qld Eisteddfod (1995), and in both cases they were well received and won me a silver and gold medal, respectively.
Thank you Andy.”
