The chance to learn from one of the finest clarinet and saxophone players on the music scene today can seem daunting, even a little surreal to some, but Andy Firth is a very experienced and down to earth teacher with over 25 years of teaching experience at all levels to his credit. Here are some of the ways you can learn with this amazing musician.
Andy and his wife Liz offer one to one clarinet and saxophone tuition from their studios in Newcastle in NSW Australia. Fortunate students that live in the Newcastle/Hunter region can enjoy one to one lessons on a weekly basis with Andy or Liz Firth. Together they have over 50 years of teaching experience, having taught both privately and in private schools and colleges located in Adelaide, Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.
Liz is an experienced and brilliant teacher of beginner and novice level students starting from the age of 7-8 years. Lessons are half-hour in length and are tailored for each student’s ability and level of learning. The child’s confidence and skill level are developed steadily, whilst basic music theory, how to practice and maintain a practice schedule are also emphasised and developed during lessons.
Andy is especially skilled in planning and preparing students for higher level examinations and HSC studies. Andy has a proven track record of inspiring and developing young musical talent to discover their full potential and achieve their personal musical goals. Weekly lessons with Andy are one hour in duration and are also tailored for each student’s ability and level of learning.
Both Liz and Andy have completed a working with children check.
You can find more information about Liz and Andy’s teaching studios on the Facebook page Play Clarinet and Saxophone or alternatively if you have any queries, please feel free to contact Andy at firstname.lastname@example.org or Liz at email@example.com
“Liz is the most fantastic, encouraging saxophone teacher. When I asked my son what makes her so special he said, ‘Liz helps you, tells you stuff and shows you what you can really do!’ “
“Andy Firth has repeatedly made learning the saxophone an absolute delight for almost 7 years now. I started with Liz and then Andy and both have been amazing mentors and teachers. I have continued to love and play music even though I am studying at university now simply because of the fun brought by learning from Andy, a legend of Australian music!”
Thanks to the miracle that is the internet, distance is now no barrier for learning! Andy now offers webcam lessons to intermediate/advanced level students and players.
Due to the nature of teaching beginner level students the option of webcam lessons is unfortunately not available for students starting out. To get the best results from webcam lessons with Andy, players ideally need to be at least 5th grade AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) or equivalent standard.
