I’m All Yours — Catherine Lambert Sings Andy Firth
It is hard to describe the thrill I feel each time I hear my songs sung by Catherine Lambert. Catherine is not only one of the finest vocalists I have collaborated with, but also a fine actress. Our friendship and working partnership began in Adelaide, South Australia, in 1985, when we were members of a small jazz group called The Hep Hounds. Over the years we toured together, appeared on various television variety shows, and featured in concerts around Australia. After my marriage in 1995, I left Adelaide (for the second time) and moved to Sydney. Catherine continued along her own career path while I followed mine, and for a period we didn’t meet or work together.
The Songs
In 2008, I wrote lyrics for one of my father’s favourite melodies, “Once Again”. Until then, I had never seriously considered that I might be able to write my own lyrics. That experience led me to study and research the great lyricists of the 1930s–70s, and I continued developing words for my melodies. To date, I have written over 100 songs. This album presents a selection that I feel are worthy of being recorded and performed by a vocalist of Catherine’s caliber.
The Production
This album has essentially been a two-person effort—Catherine and myself. I arranged and created the instrumental backing tracks and sent them to Catherine, who recorded her vocals over them. She then returned the vocal tracks to me, and I mixed them with the backings, adding clarinet and saxophone solos where appropriate.
The songs span a range of styles and tempos, from sultry swing and sunny Latin to tender ballads and love songs.
I sincerely hope you enjoy these songs as much as I know you will Catherine’s beautiful vocals.
